In most personal injury cases, California Code of Civil Procedure §335.1 imposes a two-year statute of limitations from the date of injury. Different deadlines may apply to claims against government entities (six months under Gov. Code §911.2) and certain other matters. Deadlines are strict; once they pass, your claim is barred. California follows a pure comparative-fault rule. You may still recover compensation even if you were partially at fault; your recovery is simply reduced by your percentage of fault.
